As advertised, these do not need lighter fluid to get started, which is a plus from the standard coal of the same brand. I use this with my bullet smoker, and I did notice hotter starting temperatures than the standard time as well, but it's seems to be about the same in terms of temperature and burn time over the long run. Still, the ease of use goes a long way with this product. This definitely is going to be my go to standard go-to coal going forward.

I was affected by Hurricane Helene! I want to be ready for next power outage and winter high winds,ice and or snow! They could cause another outage! I will have this on hand ! Just in case! Local stores are selling 2 bags close to $20! I don’t want to stockpile to much! Grateful for fair price !

Does light with just a match. Takes a long time to get a chimney started. In all fairness, I live in Seattle and I kept this in the garden shed (waterproof) and I think the moisture affects them.They are a help in getting a good coal going, but do allow at least 20 minutes after they catch fire all round. No, you don't taste the lighter fluid. All over, will keep using but I'll keep in a 5 gal lidded bucket.
