I see a lot of folks just getting a hose close and duct taping it to their mitre saws and it drives me nuts. I take dust collection seriously and I also take the investment into my tools seriously. There’s nothing worse in a shop than the residual stick left behind from old duct tape. It’s a dust magnet. And when I pay hundreds for a saw I want to respect it. Part of keeping a tool running smoothly is keeping it clean and as dust free as you can. Enter this reducer. Works great and i’m sure I’ll find other tools and applications where it’s helpful as well. Simple but helpful product.

This is an extremely simple item, just a plastic tube a couple of inches long that narrows slightly in the center to a smaller diameter. Easy-peasy, right? The item listing specifically states that this fits the Dewalt DWS716 saw. I have a DWS716XPS miter saw, which is the same saw as the DWS716, but it adds the shadow line indicator. Prior to ordering this item I checked Dewalt's website and confirmed that both the DWS716 and DWS716XPS use the same dust port; i.e. the instruction manuals for both saws state that they both use the "AirLockTM fitting, which is a universal system that connects tools to dust extraction shrouds". I'm very disappointed to report that this does *not* properly fit the Dewalt DWS716XPS miter saw, and so I assume it also doesn't properly fit the DWS716 or other Dewalt miter saws that use the standard Airlock fitting. This item fits over the Airlock fitting, but is oversized and thus loose. I plan to wrap the Airlock fitting on the back of the saw with duct tape to take up the space, but I'm disappointed to have to use duct tape to make this $12 plastic tube fit properly on a saw that it specifically claims to fit.
