This is kind of like the classic choose your own adventure stories, but with the addition of characters to play as, objects to collect, and rewards to earn. It's still a pretty limited story tree and each read-through takes only 10 minutes or so, depending on reading speed. I wish there was a longer version for slightly older kids, but this is a fun intro to cyoa and rpg style games. Age-wise, this is good for beginning readers, at about a 2nd grade reading level to do on their own and younger kids can do the story adventure with some help. With a parent reading you can probably play with kids as young as 3. My son is 7, in 2nd grade, and enjoyed the stories for a while, but I think he wanted a longer adventure, too (he's a fairly advanced reader and gamer).

Well this was a fun surprise, I was able to review this for my channel and gift it to my nephew later and I was susprised at how fun and repeatable the "game" was. It's kind of like a choose-your-own-adventure but with some item management that is made super easy by just spinning the built-on wheels on the corners of the book. a great way to introduce kids to adventure books and later RPGs.

I love choose your adventure books and having kid who are dyslexic these were a must have for me. These have an interesting change in that you choose a character out of the three you can choose from, and when you are choosing a path, you flip only the cards in that section. Some pages are split into three sections and then there is one main page you turn when you get there. The font is a dyslexic friendly font as well. I look forward to reading these books to my younger kids and having my older ones be able to read it themselves.

I got this for my 6 year old as something to take on the camping trip this weekend and read before bed. He's very into space adventures so I knew it was right up his alley. He really loved it, and went through the adventure (with help) a few times. And then he worked on it some on his own. Even the 11 year old (who has done quite a few choose-your-own-adventure style books) wanted to try it. He liked that it was a different take on that genre - being able to choose characters and have an inventory. The book itself was sturdy and seemed well made. The art was attractive to the kids.Overall, I thought it was a great way to have a game in a book for a younger child.

I recently got the “Odyssey of The Phobos” for my kids, and it has quickly become a favorite in our household. Here are my thoughts:Engagement and Fun: This interactive space adventure game is incredibly engaging. The storyline is captivating, and the role-playing elements keep kids entertained for hours. My children love making choices that affect the outcome of the story, which adds a layer of excitement and replayability.Educational Value: Beyond being fun, the game is educational. It encourages reading and critical thinking as kids navigate through the story and solve problems. The fact that it’s designed to be dyslexia-friendly is a huge plus, making it accessible to a wider range of children.Design and Quality: The book is well-made with vibrant illustrations that bring the story to life. The pages are durable, which is important for a product aimed at younger children. The layout is clear and easy to follow, which helps keep kids engaged without getting frustrated.Ease of Use: The game is straightforward to use. The instructions are clear, and the interactive elements are intuitive. My kids were able to dive right in without needing much help, which is always a bonus.Overall Value: Considering its educational benefits and the hours of entertainment it provides, “Odyssey of The Phobos” offers excellent value for its price. It’s a great investment for parents looking to combine fun and learning in a single package.

Getting kids into role-playing is something that comes up often. This is a healthy way to encourage exploration, revisting, and accepting that there are several ways through a story. There are multi-section pages, and big pages. Eventually every split page will have you turn the big page as a means of moving the overall story forward. Here there are promots for carrying items, or even being a certain character. Total of 3 endings and none are discouraged if you get a lesser one.I'd recommend these for parents who want to help guide younger readers through interactive storytelling and/or "Choose Your Own Adventure" style books.

This is a really fun adventure book for younger readers. There are four equipment wheels that are always visible, one in each corner of the inside cover. They change as you make decisions in the book and work in logical ways.On decision pages, the right side is actually split into three sections that flip individually; you select one and then work your way forward. Eventually when you flip the last part of a section, you flip the whole page and a new set of options appears. It sounds complicated but with the book in your hands it makes sense and works great. My six year old figured it out quickly and loved that he could choose what to do, but he did need help with words several times. Anyone older than that will probably have no trouble at all.The only minor complaint we have is that the equipment wheels are a little hard to turn sometimes, but I suspect they will loosen up with use.The illustrations and writing are all very nice and work well with the space theme. The book and pages are made of nice quality paper and cardboard. This is a really fun and unique way to read and discover your own story!
