Walter Trout knocks it out of the park with all his CDs. This one is excellent and I highly recommend it if you like blues guitar, he can also sing well. Many times you get a good guitarist and you wish they'd just shut their pie hole and play. Not all good blues guitar players have a good voice. I won't mention names. :-)We have listened to this many times and is one of our go-to Cds when we can't decide on the music for the evening. Trout and Clapton are the obvious choices.

I'm new to Walter Trout's music. I've known about him for two decades but had none of his music until recently. 2017's Were All In This Together was my introduction. Highly recommend. Great album with great songs and cream of the crop guests on each track playing in the guests style . Not your typical guest albums where the songs are flat and forced and without feel. But that is a studio album with great production. The real test for a musician, singing and playing a three dimensional instrument is on the stage performing live without computer assistance and studio re-takes. WT and band pass with flying colors. Relentless is a live album that hits the gate running and doesn't let up until the last track. The band is in terrific form . 77 minutes of a great mix of hard edged Blues Rock songs delivered with energy and passion. High octane Blues Rock. Discover for yourself that WT is the Real Deal, but i suggest not to follow my example and wait two decades to do it. This album is a great place to start.

I've had this CD for quite a while now. At first, I thought it was good, professional blues. However the more I listened, the more it grew on me. This record is simply BRILLIANT! Trout has a great blues voice. His guitar playing is aggressive, accurate and emotive. The band is tight and the organ backing, especially, is outstanding. There is a balance of hard rocking and quietly soulful blues. Overall though, this is one of the best blues albums in my (rather large) collection. I 'discovered' Walter Trout rather late in the piece (silly me) but he has to be one of the most outstanding bluesmen of the last couple of decades.

One cannot fathom the relentless part of Walter Trout's music, or the will to keep going after his falls and those of his bandmates. Besides roady jobs, he's a regular at a Huntington Beach music bar. One never could know who's going to show up for the one- two- three nighter gig. At first, after seeing WT play the circuit consecutive times, one would think WT's out of tune and songs and into a grind of repetition, but that isn't true at all. Perhaps he's better at remembering how to play the whole spectrum of music he's written or borrowed (covers) than most any other musician that doesn't play their whole catalog at ever sitting. The result certainly isn't boring; even while watching some drunk play a beer bottle (no sounds) to the tune of whatever WT is playing at the time. You'd think that WT was tired of the road, but they keep the gig going, no matter the location. To get the full scoop, one has to get the 14 or so cds and keep cranking them while driving down the road. In person, along with his players (local or not) the music gets right into your soul as if it were a RR track spike making its connection and pain known. Blues is around to mirror one's internal emotions, and the process leads to some relief from the downers and negativity, and then brightens the whole outlook after such concerts or renditions.Besides this album, I'd look into John Mayall's 'Behind the Iron Curtain', who has WT and Coco Montoya playing on it. It is very inspiring, and once you know who's playing what, you'll be after more of it. RELENTLESS- yeah that describes Walter Trout, and just about anybody doing the gig with him!!!

Walter is best served live and this is no exception. To bad the audio quality is bad even on the SACD. Is it just me or does his voice drop on the last two songs? Sounds like his mic quit? Walter is such a great player and I hope he releases a better copy of this. I will buy it again.

Walter may not enjoy the fish jokes but he certainly ripped it up on this one. Great performance. Trout is a real guitar hero! Substantial organ and keyboard backup is here and excellent. Bet he had a blast in Amsterdam. The 2 channel mix is superb. The multi channel mix made it sound like I was at the show right in front of the stage. Vocals are mostly out of the center channel and have a live sound to them. Both mixes are great so don't sweat it if you only have 2 channel SACD capability. Buy this disc and don't be bashful with the volume.

Walter Trout is an amazing talent!! They don't come any better! His music defies categorization. You hear heavy metal, blues, rock, pop, early rock n' roll, soul, ballads, gospel, and even folk (one number in GO THE DISTANCE, his best CD). He has universal appeal. And, he is outstanding in all these diverse styles! I like all the songs on RELENTLESS, his second best title. This offering was recorded live in Amsterdam. Walter's outstanding voice is loud and clear, although the instruments are a little bit in the background: check out the samples. The great producer, Jim Gaines, is involved. Unlike when he first started, he has masterfully integrated heavy metal with most of his other styles. The selections I like the best are: I'M TIRED, THE LIFE I CHOSE, WORK NO MORE, and MY HEART IS TRUE. The other cuts I would rate as very good. This album is worth twice the price!
