I've wanted to get some setup blocks for some time, but it's never been a priority, when i got a chance to try these out i was stoked. They come in a nice plastic black case with sturdy foam cutouts for all the blocks including the 3:2:1 block. I took out my expensive japanese calipers to test the accuracy and i'd say that 50-60% of them were spot on accurate measurements up to .0001 inches, and about 40-50% of them were accurate up to .0015 inches which tends to be good enough for woodworking. If you want machinist quality 0 grade which are all accurate to .00005, you will likely spend in the hundreds of dollars, but for the price, these are accurate enough for me!

I have a small set of the metalworking version of these that cost me a mint many years ago and I use them all the time, mostly for woodworking. The only problem is I only have 5 blocks and I've always wanted a greater variety of sizes.This kit looked nice for the price and I figured that unless they were warped or way out of spec, they'd suit my needs. When they arrived, I was impressed. They come in a nice storage box and I love the bright white lettering against the gunmetal black surface.These do measure perfectly within spec for woodworking, with variations of less than .001" on a few blocks, and others are spot on. All have nicely flat surfaces with a small radius at each edge to make picking them up easier.The only thing I'd love to see is along with the fractions, the decimal inch equivalent also printed on the blocks would be helpful for me, but I know most woodworkers are fluent in fractions where my dumb brain just never could get my head around them so I made a cheat sheet and stuck it to the inside of the box. The only other thing I did was adhere the foam inserts in the box using foam safe glue, making sure to leave the box open and empty for about a week afterward to allow any outgassing to dissipate before assembling the kit and adding it to my tool shelf.I've already used these on two projects and it's so nice to be able to grab the exact block I need without having to make something out of wood scrap.

I like this set. The case is really nice. The anodized steel is nice, and should prevent rusting. The only issue I have with these is the accuracy. Except for the 123 block, the accuracy is not 0.001" as described. The 123 block I measured to be very flat, square, and accurate, measuring within 0.001" accuracy for all sides.I used two Mitutoyo calipers to measure the bars, and both my calipers read the same thing, so I know this is the blocks that are out, and not my calipers (this is a $250+ caliper I'm measuring with, not a $20 Home Depot special, so...).I found that the majority of the blocks are -0.003" out, with the 1/8" bar being the most egregious - It was -0.005" out -> 0.120" instead of 0.125" that it should be.Surprisingly, the 1/2" dimension side of the bars was -0.001", so within spec.I think a machinist would throw this set in the trash but, for woodworking, these are plenty close enough. To give you an idea of how small 0.003" is, a sheet of office paper is around 0.004" thick. I think the price point of these is justified, given the really nice case they come in, the nice 123 block, and the acceptable precision needed for woodworking.

These setup blocks are a wonderful kit.Everyone who works with wood or metal should have at least one kit in their shop. This one is complete. The blocks are beautifully fabricated aluminum. Each one has engraved and painted identifications. They each have a custom slot in the case foam to keep the organized and ready to use. I keep this kit next to my saws and router table stations. In the past, I've always used a measuring tape to set cutting depths. As you can imagine, it's very difficult to attain a fine degree of accuracy that way. These completely solved the problem. They are dead on accurate and so easy to use with incredible, repeated results. I've been building high-end kitchen cabinets for our remodel and these have made all the difference in the world. I've enjoyed amazing, consistent results and no headaches from mistakes and wasted material! I love, love this kit in every way. If you've thought about getting a set, look NO FURTHER and buy this one!! I promise that you'll be ultra impressed.I wholeheartedly recommend this setup block kit.
