I ordered this to replace a failing Serial Port card in an industrial control system PC. At first I couldn't get it to work and was about ready to toss it and order one from another manufacturer but I decided to go to the manufacturer's web site to see if there was any support to help. Once on their site I found an updated driver and downloaded and installed it and then the card started working, so the driver CD that comes with it is worthless. The one problem that I couldn't find a solution to that might keep the card from working in a particular application is that there doesn't seem to be any way to set the port number, IRQ or memory range, apparently the driver just picks its own settings. Fortunately I was able to configure my software to match the card. Also, when I first got the card working it came up as COM4, then the next time I restarted the PC the card came up as COM5. So far it hasn't changed itself again, but if it just randomly changes its settings it could be a problem.

For those in question as to wither this will work on a Windows 10 machine, it will! It is literally plug and play hardware. No drivers were needed. Simply shut off the computer, unplug cables and open up the case. Insert card into a spare PCI slot. Close case. Reconnect cables and power on. Windows will automatically take care of all the drivers. I am using this to control a Kenwood TS-570S radio via HRD. Works perfectly!

I'm a ham radio operator and had an issue with my previous serial card when I upgraded from XP to a Win 7 machine. Too long a story for here, but to summarize, Win 7 seems to hold certain lines high on the COM port by default where Win XP didn't. As a result, the COM port no longer behaved correctly when 'idle' (i.e. when the application is not running). I downloaded the new Win 7 driver for my old serial card but that didn't help.Based on the reviews here on Amazon and a friend who had bought one, I bought the StarTech card. I downloaded the Win 7 64bit driver from the StarTech web site as others have said. It worked perfectly the first time. No more issues.

Installed this in a pc running Windows 7. Win7 didn't indentify the hardware, so I needed to use the little disk that came with it. Installed the software, and it works fine. I couldn't find anything on the board or instructions that indicated which port was which, but on the board there is one db9 connector that is soldered to the board, and another db9 connector that is connected to the board with a cable. The connector with the cable is COM2, and the hard-wired one is COM1. Comes with low-profile brackets if you need them.

This PCI add on is perfect if like me you have a computer with no RS232 ports, it works a treat and is very fast for RS232 input and output.I purchased this add on port to use for access to my recently acquired radio system, and the whole thing worked perfectly straight out of the box.Although software is provided for operating systems older than Windows XP, if you are running Windows XP or higher mine is Windows 7 this hardware is just plug and play. The operating system will find it and install the drivers automatically so it just runs as soon as you turn boot up your computer.

I bought this product for use in a PC being used as a shop till system, requiring a serial port for the receipt printer and another for the credit card machine. The PC is a Win7 32-bit machine.Installation was fine and the product is now in daily use without problems. The biggest problem I had was working out which numbered serial port (COM2, COM3 etc.) corresponded to which physical socket in the card.If you need extra serial ports for your PC this card will do the job.

My experience with this product was less than satisfactory. I installed it on an XP machine according to the instructions. It led to error messages and the creation of an LPT3 port which was "unusable". It did create COM4 and COM5 which is what I would have expected. However, my machine came to a grinding halt, would hand indefinitely on startup.I did a system restored and reinstalled the PCI board. Same thing.Perhaps I got a lemon so I will exchange it. Clearly the other reviewers here had a more positive experience.

This dual serial port card is great. The packaging emphasizes compatibility with a variety of [worthless] windows releases, but it works flawlessly with real operating systems, also. (In my case Fedora 14.) It just worked right out of the box, no drivers, no setup, just plugged it in, booted up the box, and the operating system showed two more serial ports. It comes with half height mounting brackets if needed, so it will fit any PC with a spare PCI slot.I've found USB to DB9 serial connectors to be flaky, but this solution was inexpensive and appears to be rock-solid.

It does work with Win 7 but I suggest that a person with medium to advance computer skills do the install. The driver files on the disk did not work and I ended up having to download the file from the website and after about an hour of sheer frustration and trying it a few different ways it finally worked. Product works good and having two serial ports is a big PLUS...
