Seems like every dozen or so dives the zoop novo does something odd. The latest was a single dive reported a 3 separate dives. It just randomly spit the dive, so the first 22 minutes has one profile, the next 5 minutes has another, and the last 60 seconds has a third. I've had 2 dives that over-reported my depth by 134 feet, so as soon as I hit the water the dive shows me starting at 134 feet and my 70' deep dive shows up as a 200+ foot dive on the DM5 output. It reports a low battery every 4th or 5th dive, but I've replaced the battery and it continues to report it as low occasionally, Also had the battery tested and it was new and nearly full charge. The latest odd result was on 2 recent dives during the 3 minute safety stop there is no readout of the 3, 2, 1 and - as you count down the safety stop, just an Er where the countdown would be. I assume Er indicates some error. So after shipping the 3 year old unit back to Suunto and waiting a couple weeks, all I get was a bill for $40 and a note that they couldn't find anything wrong with it nor could they recreate any of my problems, even though they could see them in the dive history. I bought 2 units at the same time, one for me and one for my wife. All of these problems occurred on my wife's computer, while mine hasn't experienced these anomalies. One bit of frustrating functionality that I wish they would address, there is no way to edit or delete dives in the computer dive history. So now I have two test dives in the computer history from Suunto's testing of the computer that shows up on the DM5 profile and no way to delete it. I can delete it from the DM5 data, but every time I'm upload my latest dives, it just puts it right back in the DM5. Same problem where I forgot to change the date/time on dives in French Polynesia - so I corrected them in the DM5, but whenever I upload a new set of dives, it loads the original dives with the incorrect time/dates as well. That shouldn't be such a big problem that they couldn't easily add that functionality.

Over engineered to impress but fails to deliver for those actually diving. Tested with two PADI instructors, neither could quickly or easily program this computer between Nitrox and Air. Buttons are stiff and difficult to use. Computer lay out is not clear and navigation around the system is neither intuitive or easy. I would have returned it to manufacturer if our travel time permitted it.

This dive computer is easy to learn, simple to operate and gives you all the info needed to monitor your dive activities. I’m old school, dive watch and dive tables. I just completed a dive with a charter that required a dive computer on every dive. The Suunto Zoop worked flawlessly. Dive stops and duration were seamless. Bottom time was recorded. Surface time between dives was automatic. No guess work. I’ll be using this dive computer on every dive in the future. The only issue I can speak of is the instructions that come with the unit. You’ll need to download the full manual from the web. The manual in the box in minimal at best.

We are beginner divers and this did everything we wanted and more. All of my dives have been with guides but I like knowing what I am doing.
