Great way to keep on top of pool water chemistry. It can seem overwhelming at 1st but the directions help with ease of use. Also comes with a reference book that tells you how to make adjustments if needed. Highly recommend!

The Taylor Salt kit allows self checks and no reliance on driving to pool stores for water checks. Saves time and money as well as being able to test after weather changes etc.

Nice complete kit for a salt water pool. But the tip was missing from the R-0007 reagent bottle. When I tipped it up to put drops in, all reagent spilled out. Directions say to tip completely upside down. Can't find a way on Amazon to contact seller. Guess I need to buy a new reagent bottle for a brand new kit. Not happy.

This is an amazing product. We had inconsistent readings from the pool store water test that used electronic equipment to determine chemistry. Depending on which location we went to the results varied even in the same day , within the same hour using the same bottle of water.Switched to a different pool store that uses chemical test and this kit allows for the same physical/visual confirmation of pool chemistry. Beyond the normal dpd test I was able to check CYA and Alkalinity with a high degree of accuracy when compared to the pool store test.I have been having trouble maintaining PH and this kit helps me see the full spectrum of all chemistry instead of just chlorine and pH.

We have a salt chlorinator with our spa and started off using test strips and then a salt meter (small handheld) and a ph meter (small handheld) all of which we purchased from Amazon.Relying on these items we ended up in an epic water chemical mess, as I (Gina) kept adding calcium, PH reducer, and alkalinity increaser based upon the strips and the PH meter readings (and colors); we came to realize each of these was giving false readings because the salt chlorinator locked up, there was excess foam, the waters smell and cloudiness, an abrasive feel of water on the skin, and then ultimately, most recently the water developed a slightly greenish hue.Now we've received and today used this "good old fashioned" test kit we see the PH is off the charts high, the alkalinity is off the charts high, the salt content is too high....you get the picture.Using the outlined process we are able to see just how much too high, so as to calculate the proper dosages of substances needed to bring the mess back into balance (which I'm hoping we can without draining the tub and starting over fresh). To be sure we will never go back to strips and cheap meters again.

I would have given it 5 stars but one of the reagents went bad. It does not mix into solution, clumps together and sinks. I have only had the test kit less than a full season and I store the reagents as per the user manual.Buying this kit was an excellent purchase and my first step from pool store freedom and their ridiculous prices. My first year owning a pool I spent hundreds upon hundreds of dollars on pool chemicals I did not need because I listed to the 'expert' advice from the pool store guy. When I inquired about a proper pool test kit he said they are prohibitively expensive. $300 +. HA! what a joke. This kit fed me all the info I needed to reduce my chemical cost this season to around $100. Further more, It helped me understand the nature of CYA and the effectiveness of free chlorine. Those chlorine pucks I used boost CYA to such a level where the free chlorine becomes essentially ineffective. Next season I will be going with sodium hypochlorite. Cheaper than the pucks and does not make the CYA levels wacky. High CYA levels lead to algae. Something I learnt the hard way this season. This kit is designed masterfully. I can't attest to the accuracy but assume the readings are correct. The level of detail and care that went into this kit is astonishing. Even the manual is printed on what looks to be plastic paper, so it does not get ruined by water.I have not yet checked prices on replacement reagents. Hope they are not killer.I highly recommend this product.

I had been using test strips to check the chemistry of my pool but I never fully trusted them. Years ago I had used a similar kit with an above ground pool, so I thought I would give this one a try. The kit includes a manual that explains some of the chemistry behind each test if you forgot what you learned in high school and it has tables that help gauge how much of a particular chemical you need to add. The manual alone is worth half the price of the kit in my opinion. It is very clear and concise. Overall I find the kit to be accurate. I have been able to keep my water balanced and crystal clear. For those choosing to purchase this kit I would recommend getting two wash bottles such as these: I use bottles of different sizes (8oz and 16oz) so I can easily see the difference between the test sample and the wash bottle. Fill the small bottle with water from the pool and fill the larger one with distilled water to wash out the test tubes between tests. Tap water and bottled water can contain chlorine or minerals that skew test results. This is especially true of municipal water systems or well water.
