The Weaver # 90 Base was perfect but it was for attaching to the barrel. I didn't want to Drill and Tap holes in the barrel, just the receiver. The Gun Smith didn't want to modify the base so I ended up getting a different Weaver abase. I will post a picture when it is completed.

I have bought mounts that said they would fit my 39A from other sellers that didn't come close to fitting, this mount has just 2 holes to mount the weaver style rail, the holes appear to be exactly 2 inches apart. There are 3 grooves cut across the top of the mount, one towards the front and two near the rear of the mount so Picatinny style / Weaver scope rings will fit. I am very pleased with this mount, it comes with 2 flat type screwdriver screws plus mount.

I didn't realize finding a base for a Marlin 39 could be so troublesome, or at least for my particular model - 39 Century Limited (1971) w octagon barrel. Even the original Weaver-Marlin table was telling me wrong, telling me Century Limited's needed a 2-piece base using 2 holes each. Anyway, after some inconvenience, some guessing and crossing my fingers, yes, this fits my Century Limited. Yay! At last I can scope it!I'm gonna step out on a limb here and declare....whether your 39 is an A, a D or an M or a Century Limited or a round barrel or an octagon barrel, if the receiver has 2 tap holes that are 2 inches apart, you can be just about 99.9% certain this one will fit yours. I have an old Marlin 39A from 1963 when my Dad bought it for me. I've had a cheap 22 scope on it most of the time. it was sort of dark and had very fine cross hairs so I wanted to put on a 22 scope with a 1 inch tube for more light and a better cross hair. I needed a wider base for the new scope and ordered this one. It worked well and I easily got the rifle sighted in. Mount the base, then the rings, then the scope. The bottom of the base is rounded as if some Marlin 39 receiver have a rounded top. Mine is flat but the mount went on with no difficulty.
