About this item

  • Take it easy: ShowDown tilts down 26" from roof rack height and provides 30-45 percent weight assistance, making it a breeze to load and unload kayaks and boards
  • Carry 1 kayak or 2 boards: Carries 1 large kayak or 2 stand up paddleboards with a total weight of 80 lbs.; Lightweight materials and construction leave carrying capacity for other gear
  • Fits most crossbars: Universal mounting hardware fits most roof racks; Minimum crossbar spread of 24"
  • Padded protection: Felt-covered cradles protect your kayak or boards and shape around them for secure transport; All tie-down straps included; Compatible with SKS Lock Cores (sold separately)
  • Easy install: Simple, quick installation; Folds down flat when not in use to reduce drag and noise and increase clearance; Refer to Yakima Fit My Car Tool to ensure compatibility

The first load-assist mount to handle both SUPs and kayaks, makes loading and unloading heavy boats and boards a breeze. The lightweight mount tilts down more than 2 feet from the roof rack, takes on up to 45 percent of the boat's weight, then helps gently raise it up to the top of the vehicle. Once loaded it securely cradles your boat or boards for the ride. At only 21 lbs. it's super lightweight but built burly enough to wrangle an 80 lb. load. Weight: 23.00 lbs. Dimensions: L 42.00 in x W 9.00 in x H 9.00 in.

Way cheaper than a Hullavator. Works just as good. Loader is more at chest height than hip height. You do have to use a little more of a shove once you get the loader on top of your car or suv. I'm 5'11", bad shoulder, OLD woman paddler. It was just fine for me.

I love my Yakima Showdown kayak/SUP rack system. I have some fairly severe back problems that have been exacerbated by my advancing age. This system makes transporting my watercraft significantly easier for me. Be aware though that you must still be able to perform an overhead lift for it to work. That lift will be less than the full weight of your vessel due to the 2nd degree lever, but it will still require significant effort. For me this is fine. If you have shoulder issues, you may want to try one first. I would buy again.

The lift was easy to install and would be easy to use for a taller person. I'm only 5ft. and drive an equinox. It wasn't worth the money to keep it. Lifting it up onto the hooks was just as hard as putting it up myself. Getting it off was even harder. So I returned it, however if I was taller or my vehicle was shorter I think it would have been well worth the money. 😊 Returning it wasn't to inconvenient.

Lets face it... this thing is pretty expensive. Took me a lot of research before I took the plunge, and I am loving this. If you are solo kayaking... or kayaking with a kid who isn't ready to help load a heavy kayak on your car, this is so worth it.Every time I load my car I have people oohing and aweing and how easy it is to get loaded, strapped, and raised up.Took me about 3 times to get used to it and fine-tune where I would put the straps to tighten it more after I raised it.... but now its about a 12-minute process to install the device, load the kayak, and drive off. When there its about a 3-minute process to get the kayak off of the roof.PS... if you happen to have a Tesla, keep your key at a distance as the side-view-mirrors auto-opening while you are loading it is not good :)

While Yakima makes outstanding products, this was purchased and billed as "New, in original packaging but packaging damaged". The accuracy was the packaging was damaged - barely held together with packing tape on the doorstep. Don't worry, it gets worse. The product itself had obvious chips, scratches, marks and even dirt from previous installation and use, most of the accompanying components billed as present were missing and one component that was present was unusable. This was a shameful resale of an otherwise outstanding product. This was Amazon's resale - shame on Amazon for this one.
