I was really hoping this mat would stop my old sewing machine from bouncing up and down whenever I can get it to run fast. It did not help. These mats are just about 1/4 inch thick, both sides have the same finish so I assume they can be flipped over to either side. It does keep my machine from being moved around the table easily, so that's a plus. One downside, solely for me, is that it is in black and I use black thread about 95% of the time for sewing my piecework job. When I have to rip out a seam and those little pieces of thread go everywhere, it's very hard to see the black ones and the ones I miss wind up stuck to a finished product, which only adds more time and work for me. Time is money and the longer it takes for me to produce a finished product, the less money I make. Any other color but black, and I'd be able to see every tiny thread on the mat covered table. So, I may move this to my quilting room to use there. My bouncy work machine will just have to survive a little longer until I find a solution for that.The footpad works very well to stay in place and if I ever see this product in another color, and perhaps sold separately I'll order it for my work room machine. Black threads on that black footpad become invisible and later stick to my shoe, then wind up on my living room carpet. Please, make this in any color but black, please!
