I got this because it had a metal insert tray and you can use it in the van.I tested it in the kitchen and used an IR thermometer to check the max temp and it hit 150f.I put a medium amount of water in the tray and it was hot but not boiling, really just right in that range of safe but still hot. I was impressed with the heat and seemed to keep the heat in for a few hours after I unplugged it and put it into its thermal carry case.It has a good seal on the lid and snaps closed and is water tight.There is a little silicone steam plug you can pop up and open and down and closed on the top lid if you are adding super hot food directly from the stove or oven. I would assume that if you knocked this unit over, upside down and left it that liquids could get out of the plug area after a time, but I shook it up with water in it and it did not leak for me.I comes with a set of stamped utensils but as an autistic I don't dig the edges so I have a set of folding camping utensils I just put in the case and I use the spot in the top lid for Mustard & Ketchup packets.I wish there was a little velcro flap where the 12v & A/C plug is so you could leave it in the bag, for use in the car.If both of the power cords laid flat against the unit and were x3 longer you could just pop the cord out the top where the zipper closes.Since the cords are pretty short you will have to use an extension cord in both the car and home if you do not have a spot right near an outlet or near your cigarette lighter in the car.I think this is nice unit to use in the car if say you are a delivery or uber driver and need something to keep your food warm til break time. Also something you could take to a office and leave plugged in on the counter until lunch time depending on how long that is.

Great electric lunchbox! We've used it a few times now and so far everything works great! My husband uses this in his car to heat food for lunch. He has a tiny one already that takes a while to heat. This one has a lot more room amd It heats fast! He had buscuit casserole leftovers and after 15 mins it almost burned. So keep an eye on it until you know how it works with different foods! It comes with a little spoon and fork in the lid. Its a nice design, but they are too small for adults. He will probably bring extra. I'll try to update later on if I can.

I have not tried using this to reheat food. I've tried using it as one would use a thermos, by preheating it first a bit, then adding hot food to it. Using it this way, it kept my food piping hot until lunch time. I appreciate that it came with both the car cord and a household cord. The metal inside container washed up very easily, but I have not tried using the included plastic container yet for anything. I like that the lid has compartments also, and that the lid latches so securely. So far I've used it with stew and spaghetti, and it worked great with both. I dripped some spaghetti sauce down the side when I filled it, and it wiped clean very easily. I think it's reasonably priced considering the quality, and I would recommend it.

This electric lunchbox works great. I was able to re-heat food from the refrigerator in 25 minutes. I heated 3 grilled chicken tenders, 1 cup of rice and steamed asparagus all placed directly in the silver food container using the indoor electrical plug. I haven't tried using the car adapter because I haven't had the need.It comes with two separate power cords, one for a car jack and one for a household 120v two prong plug. Which is really nice to have both options for heating your food. The lid has a built-in compartment with lid that houses a small fork and spoon (provided with lunch box) There is also a small plastic container with lid that fits inside the lunchbox which has rounder corners and a divot in the lid that accommodates the indentation of the spoon in the lid of the main box. I could not tell if the smaller clear plastic box could be placed inside and heated so I didn't use it to heat my food.As noted in the instructions, the box closes easily and best when closing two opposing sides at the same time. The lid's closure is a snap style latch and has a rubber gasket that helps prevent spills. The interior of the lid does have many grooves where food may get stuck.I found the metal (interior box) easy to wash since it is removable. However, a bit of rice stuck to the bottom and when i cleaned it, it left a slight discoloration on the bottom of the pan. At 25 minutes of heating, my food was warmed through, but not over-cooked or burned.This lunch box would be good for those who travel a lot, locally or long distances, and would like to have the option of bringing a warm lunch on the road rather than paying for fast food. With the costof dining out increasing, this is a wonderful option. This would also be good for travelers staying in hotels/motels without a microwave option.The functionality and price of this lunchbox make it a good value and will save you a lot of money spent on dining out. I recommend this item.

I got this mainly for my son. He works out in the field every day and gets tired of fast food. This is a great alternative. It works well, easy to transport and either heats up food if he brings leftovers or allows him to cook small things in the field. Works well either plugged into the truck or a wall outlet. It is easy to clean, dishwasher safe. Overall a great value for the money.

This lunchbox is great for keeping your lunch warm or for rewarming it. I make my lunch in the evenings and can go ahead and fill the lunchbox on this. Then take it to work in the morning and just turn it on about 30 minutes before I'm ready to eat and viola! My lunch is hot and ready. I'm sure you could use this to put the meal in hot and then keep it hot. But I like that you can reheat things as well. It does work with a regular plug so traveling with it isn't a problem if you have a power source. But I find it does keep your lunch pretty warm even if you don't plug it in. Would recommend.
