This tool fits Shimano one-piece bottom brackets. It is made from steel and painted black. It fits into teeth on the side of the bottom bracket and allows you to unscrew and remove the bottom bracket. This one has lands for a 19mm wrench and a square hole for a 3/8 drive ratchet.There are a couple things that make this tool less desirable than the competition. It is steel, not cast. The teeth do not firmly engage the bottom bracket. When trying to remove the bottom bracket with a ratchet, the tool has a tendency to leverage out and cause damage to the bottom bracket nut.I've found the best way to use this is, hammer it into place so that it is firmly and fully engaged with the bottom bracket. Use a 3/8" electric impact driver to remove the bottom bracket. Remember, too, the non-drive side (side without the chainrings) is left-hand or reverse threaded.
