I got this for a sump system on a 125 gallon freshwater setup. It's easy to set. I always unplug it during water changes as no one should ever rely on the auto shut off. I feel most reviews that the heater melted were running it partially submerged. I would buy this exact one if mine quits

it has remote heating portion, and then the controls show the actual temperature. It shows if it is heating and has an eco mode to save power. This is my third one, the first two lasted 3 years, witch is good compared to others.

So this heater was purchased at the end of May and installed at the end of July (last week) the heater malfunctioned . It is under warranty and they sent me a new heater right away. I had to leave town for work before it arrived and just got back and was installing the new heater. I initially thought maybe the external part malfunctioned however after removing it from my tank I am observing rust on the heater and will post pictures. This heater is designed to be underwater however it clearly was not working as designed. The company was super responsive however there were clear issues with this device. I am also going to try and send these pictures to them. I was not planning on posting a negative review until I observed the obvious rust I initially thought it was a fluke it happens they made it right nothing is perfect now I am wondering and wanted to make others awareThank you

I have a 265 Gallon Aquarium, My old style glass tube heaters burned and killed a few of my expensive fish. They had gotten bigger and found out that they were leaning against the heater and burned them which later cause me serious issues with my tank from their injuries. I researched aquarium heaters and and because of their design to shield the heating element from fish I decided to try the new product that did not have any reviews. I ordered only one heater first to give it a try. I received it through AMAZON with no issues. I read the instructions and installed it on one side of my tank. Turned it on and the heater itself worked great but it only came with one dual suction cup retainer to keep it away from the glass. Because of the size and weight of this heater the one suction cup did not work well and the heater no matter what I did, did not want to stay off the glass. Well I looked at the instruction sheet and there was an email that if you have any issues to email them. Well I emailed Hygger and explained to them that my issue with needing another set of suction cups that is needed to keep the heater off the glass. To my pleasant surprise I received a response email with acknowledgement of the problem and advised that they confirmed the problem and advised me they would send me another set of suction cups. I did receive the second set and it resolved that issue. That heater is working great with no issues and easy to read LED display. HOW, I ordered a second one because of the size of my tank. The second one arrived and I installed it. Three days later the outside LED went out. Figured maybe just a defect and immediately returned it to AMAZON which they immediately sent me another one per my request. Well the second one did the same thing, returned it for another one, third one did the same thing, outside LED went out. I again emailed Hypper and again received a response which the advised me that that did have an issue with a certain run of heaters but they have now resolved the LED failure issue. Well I received my fourth one from AMAZON and it is working perfectly. Although I had at first on going issues, Hypper customer service was outstanding and the heaters are working great. So they get a 5 star from me. FYI I also have a air pump from Hypper and it is one of the best I have had and works great in the 265 gallon aquarium. In closing if you have an issue EMAIL THEM, Hypper will go above and beyond to resolve your issue.

So I have bought a total of 3 heaters frog hygger. I bought all 3 off Amazon. I heard good things so I bought the first one and I died in a few days, my bad I didn’t read the fine print “ fresh water only” it worked awesome until it didn’t anymore. We ordered heater #2 made sure it was for “salt water” . So if you buy a hygger heater for salt water read the description carefully and make sure it says it is for saltwater. That is the best heater I have owned. Now for the reason I’m am giving only 1 star, heater #3 the unit looks great boxed and package is nice, read the instructions ( not the best) put it in the tank, let it sit 30 min or so and plugged it in set the temp, and it brought the temp up but 2-3 degrees low so I did the math and set it accordingly. Went back a few hours later the display was blank, thought maybe a sleep mode but only 1 button, and it did not wake it up. I called the 1 -800 number and was told to contact him on Facebook so I had my son contact them on Facebook with the pictures they requested. 5 day’s now no reply, giving this review a try to get attention. I just want a working heater! While on the phone the guy said I must have on of the fits ones and they do have the display issue.12/30/20 updateToday I got my replacement heater. Hope this one works! I will update in a few days1/4/2021 updateRunning for a few days now works perfect. Changing rating to 4 stars because I had to write this review to get help.
