Seems all my wheels except my MTB use bladed spokes. So they will twist upon truing them. This device along with the appropriate spoke wrench can hold the bladed spoke in original spot so it will not twist. I trust park tools since working in a shop 30 years ago. Glad they are still around.

I have spokes with a very small flat near the threads. There is no other good way to hold the spoke while tightening the nipple. I used vice grips and towel, but those were so heavy I was concerned with bending my spokes and grabbing through a towel is a tricky thing to get right. This tool is the right tool for the job.

This is a required tool especially with aluminum or bladed spokes. The overall length is 7" (178mm). There is this statement which is not true: "Compatible with round and bladed spokes 2.3 mm (13 gauge) wide or less." The opening in the jaws has a width of 0.105" (2.66mm) which will fit 12 gauge spokes which are 0.1" (2.54mm). Spokes can be clamped either parallel or perpendicular to the tool. Perpendicular clamping can be either left or right sides.The tool is also listed as a Qkcsh1 on Amazon and Park Tool Store yet this part number fails on the Park Tool website. The CLAMPING SPOKE HOLDER is clearly identified with printed part number CSH-1 in a gold color next to the pivot. Comfortable, compact, easy to use tool which seems to be made for the left hand as you turn a spoke wrench with your right hand (just like the photos) yet can be used in either hand. Glad I bought this tool.

Feels great in the hand. Strong leverage so it is able to grip spoke tightly. Not suitable for gear cable as it can easily crush it.
