I got the bike rack used for free but needed these to get it to work with my car. They work but I can't open the tailgate while the rack is on and I worry that these along with the rest of the rack are damaging my car. They don't hold the rack as secure as I would like

The instructions didn’t include technique for use on a hatchback Prius. I have an older bike rack, King Joe 2. The metal hooks attach onto the back glass window below the spoiler. I bought these straps to replace the side straps. It took me more time and effort to install because the instructions were lacking. Basically, I had to install the straps on the rack, attach the rack to the top of the hatch, open the hatch, lower the back seats, crawl in through the back to close the hatch with the replacement straps inside the trunk. It was difficult, and completely different than the instructions. However, it does prevent breaking my window.

Purchased these for use with Yakima Hangout 2 on my 2012 Scion tC (hatchback with a rear lip spoiler). They work great and were easy to install (install from the inside of the car - thread the straps through the hatchback by the hinges and attach straps to the bike rack via the bike rack's buckles). When I take the rack off, I usually pull the straps into the inside of the car with just the very ends sticking out by the hatchback hinges so that I don't have to completely reinstall every time. Having to use these is a little extra work, but I'm just happy someone thought of them as a solution to the problem of using a trunk bike rack on a hatchback.

This was the perfect accessory straps to help make our trunk top bike rack fit tight and secure over a trunk lid spoiler and shallow bumper ledge.

Worked great alongside the kingjoe 2 yakima bike rack. Had no issues with installing it and setting it up onto my car.

These are complicated to install, and if you want to open the trunk, you basically have to re-install. It works well when holding the bike on the rack and seems secure and hasn't scratched my Honda CRV yet, but I am giving three stars for the complicated re-installation that is necessary each time you need to open or close your trunk.

I was amazed these worked as well as they did. While I'm still slightly afraid to use these on a regular basis, my bike rack stayed attached, and my Scion Tc was not damaged.
